Microvolt T-wave alternation in left ventricular hypertrophy patients

چکیده
Background Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is responsible for 11% of all deaths and 50% of all cardiovascular deaths. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common cause of SCD among the young patients. SCD is often the first manifestation of the disease. There are 5 major risk factors for SCD in patients with HCM. However, no single risk factor can be used as a screening test in assessment of SCD. Nowadays new non-invasive risk factors, such as T-wave alternation (TWA), are being studied. They may provide important information on the patient’s susceptibility to life threatening arrhythmias.

The meaning of the hypertropy word is the increasing size.Heart hypertropy is symptoms of increase the thickness of the heart muscle that the left ventricular hypertrophy of them is the most common. The causes of hypertrophy heart disease are high blood pressure , aortic valve stenosis and sport activities respectively. Assessment of that by using ECG signal analysis is essential Because the ris...
متن کاملT wave alternans and ventricular arrhythmias in arterial hypertension.
Patients with a positive microvolt-level T wave alternans (TWA) are characterized by an increased risk of ventricular tachyarrhythmias. Arterial hypertension leads to an increase of sudden cardiac death risk, particularly if left ventricular hypertrophy is present. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of TWA in patients with arterial hypertension. Fifty-one consecutive patients we...

BACKGROUND Prophylactic defibrillator implantation is recommended in dilated, nonischemic heart disease and left ventricular ejection fraction of ≤0.30 to 0.35. Noninvasive testing should improve accuracy in decision making of prophylactic defibrillator implantation. METHODS AND RESULTS We enrolled 60 patients (median age, 57 years) with dilated cardiomyopathy and left ventricular ejection fr...
متن کاملUsefulness of microvolt T-wave alternans for prediction of ventricular tachyarrhythmic events in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy: results from a prospective observational study.
OBJECTIVES This study was designed to evaluate the ability of microvolt-level T-wave alternans (MTWA) to identify prospectively patients with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) at risk of ventricular tachyarrhythmic events and to compare its predictive accuracy with that of conventional risk stratifiers. BACKGROUND Patients with DCM are at increased risk of sudden death from ventricular ...

OBJECTIVES We conducted a collaborative cohort study to evaluate the predictive power of microvolt T-wave alternans (TWA) in patients with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) after myocardial infarction (MI). BACKGROUND There is little information available about the prognostic value of risk stratification markers in this population. Although these patients have a relatively g...
